Enjoy The Outdoors in Plainview, New York

New York has several quiet suburban towns around it if you wish to visit the same. Plainview is a small hamlet, located in Oyster Bay, which is on Long Island. While many are looking at this area for investing in the upcoming real estate properties, it is a quiet, relaxing place to visit as well.

The small town charm is ideal for many city travelers who can relax and unwind here. The place and its history dates back to 1648. This was the time when the first settlers came here, mainly as farmers. The local farmlands are the predominant attraction of the place; visitors are welcome to visit the farms, check out the fresh produce or enjoy the local marketplaces and the wares they sell.

Openness and healthy living are what makes Plainview attractive. It has several parks that are well maintained and offer different sports and gaming activities. Plan a day to spend here and start your guided tour of the place by visiting Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. This park is built on marshlands that was an unsightly place before. If you are going by the Oyster Bay railroad station you will get a bird’s eye view of the park.

Another place to visit nearby is the home of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the country which is in the nearby village of Cove Neck area. It was his home from 1885 till he died in the year 1919. The house has collections of memorabilia of his times and stately architecture that is worth seeing.

Scenic parks in the vicinity are many such as the Old Westbury Gardens or the Caumsett State Park. Take your children to the Plainview Old Bethpage community park where they will enjoy an Olympic standard swimming pool, baseball field, basketball court, tennis and open playgrounds. There are wooded areas that are ideal for hiking. The Bethpage State Park is also close by that has a polo field, picnic areas and golf courses.

Since Plainview has continent climate, it would be pleasant to visit during spring, summer or early autumn days.
